Bio

Ariel Gore was born in Carmel, California in 1970; dropped out of Palo Alto High School in the mid-'80s to become an international bag lady. She turned up back in California at age 19, baby in tow. Following her misspent youth, she earned an undergraduate degree from Mills College, founded Hip Mama magazine, got her master's in journalism from U.C. Berkeley, authored lots of books including Atlas of the Human Heart, a finalist for the Oregon Book Award, The Traveling Death and Resurrection Show, a Booksense Pick novel, and How to Become a Famous Writer Before You're Dead. She has two kids, Maia and Maximilian, born 17 & a half years apart.
